Everything is white outside
Posted by: | CommentsThis morning when I looked outside everything had a coating of ice crystals. The grass, the trees, the buildings everything in sight was coated with a fine layer of white frost. My latest piece of jewelry is based around shades of white. Along the Emerald Coast of Florida is a beach community called Alys Beach. Inspired by the Mediterranean all the buildings are painted white. It is a beautiful place. The white buildings set along the crystal blue waters of the Gulf are a sight to be seen. I took this memory and created this necklace appropriately named Alys!
In creating this necklace I discovered a new material called Faux Bone. I love this material. It comes in sheets like plastic and you have to cut it, carve it, sand it etc. to make your own piece of art. The possibilities are just endless. There are many options in how you finish the product. It can look like bone, shell or ivory just to name a few things. I know I love it and I plan to use it again soon. I’m also finding I love using copper. For many years now sterling silver has stolen the show from most other affordable metals. When the economy took a dive, sterling silver prices soared. Many designers started looking for alternative metals to use in their designs. Over the past year we have seen gorgeous metals appearing in jewelry that were never serious options before. Stainless steel, copper and bronze are some of the metals coming forth in some beautiful pieces of jewelry. Properly used these metals are sterling silver contenders. You are no longer seeing everyone wearing either silver or gold……isn’t that nice:)

Copper Cuffs
Posted by: | CommentsToday was the day I got everything pulled together and my new copper cuffs listed on Etsy. It had been a year since I had redesigned my website and this years undertaking was overwhelming to say the least. It’s amazing how much a mind can forget in a year….lol. I got myself in a pickle by showing my new cuffs before I had my website lined out. Everything had to go into high gear. So I’ve worked myself into a frenzy the past couple of weeks. I still have finishing touches to make to my website to make it somewhere you want to visit often. I have to admit opening myself up to the world and letting people into my life is a little frightful. I’ve never really been an open book. But I promise this time around I will be more active with my posts so you can get to know me better and hopefully I will get to know you too. So without any more waiting here is what I’ve been up to! (By the way they are available for purchase in my store.)
The time has come
Posted by: | CommentsFor the past several months I knew in this New Year I had to go a different direction with myself and my beads. I wasn’t quite sure what it was going to be, I just knew time had changed me. Last year when I went to Destin, Florida on vacation I felt I had finally found my place in the world. I realized just how much my soul had ached for the beautiful blue ocean and all it’s wonderment. I felt renewed, refreshed and alive. When I came back to Texas I embarked on a journey to create jewelry that showcased my love for the world I had left behind. I wanted to use metals in my pieces that would showcase the art of what I had created. In the next few days, I will be presenting the first of my new jewelry here on my blog. I hope you will return to see what I have in store for you.
